| Nissan South Africa’s Ambition to Preserve Environment |
Nissan South Africa, a subsidiary of Nissan Japan, has planned to introduce environment friendly vehicles by introducing a 3–liter car by 2010 that will consume 3 liters of gasoline to cover 100 km distance. Three main issues the Japanese vehicle manufacturer is focusing on are: to reduce carbon dioxide emissions; to preserve the atmosphere, water and soil by reducing these emissions; and to recycle the resources.
The world renowned Japanese car maker is determined to speed up its efforts to produce hybrid vehicles from its global manufacturing plants. The objective is to reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions from its vehicles to around 7% before the end of the next year. Nissan is also planning to produce flexible fuel vehicles within the next three years and will launch a range of electric vehicles globally by 2012 onwards.

The automobile market has expanded in recent years by growing income of the residents
of Soweto, the biggest township of South Africa that did not have a motor dealership.
